Aussie & water, a marriage made in heaven
until Aussie shakes that is keep your distance an ideal opportunity to test the 7DII and its 10fps capabilities Fresh egg, followed by four more. Today was really foggy - "Idea" - I wanted to get Royal Scot, at 'Goathland Summit', emerging from the fog nee pea souper.
Booked in, 'lineside' at Goathland signal box, Aussie & I then traipsed off into the gloom. Chest waders & wellies I set up in the waterlogged trench, waited & listened. Back to photograph Royal Scot, in the morning, lineside with Adrian Nelson.
In the afternoon from many a local view point en-route. Weather wise not the best of days with the morning fog not shifting, despite short bursts of sunlight. Another early start, and going 'lineside'. Booked in at Grosmont signal box & planned to walk upline towards Beck Hole (dependent on where the sun was shinning). First stop the sheds. ↑ - Q - What happened next? ↑ The gentleman with the camera takes up position in the 'viewing area'. ↑ - Royal Scot starts to shunt forward, you can just see his arm. ↑ - Then he & his camera get a good steam clean. ↑ - Royal Scot has shunted out of picture, as Black 5 emerges from the shed to take on coal & water. Bridge 34 Plenty of steam from Royal Scot this morning (frost on the ground) Royal Scot with Black 5 assisting the uphill climb, en-route to Goathland.
Royal Scott on the North York Moors Railway (NYMR) running from Goathland to Pickering. An early start, and caught these two deer grazing on the frosty grass. Spot the difference ↑NYMR ↓Welcome to Yorkshire

Went all 'arty' with the bull rushes. Heron, (stood there like the grim reaper) Red shank, resting Oyster catchers Swan making odd reflection. Took the Canon 400D, nice & light to stick in a bag if it rained. |
