Many thanks to Dawn, Dan & their staff.
Earlier in the afternoon Bernard Vasey, Dave Perrett & Peter Horbury set up the Trophy table & prizes.
After an excellent meal & superb hospitality WSAA Secretary Peter Horbury summarised the season and members achievements.
There were 5 domino cards to draw, won by Jacky Vasey, Venessa, Jackie Perrett, and two for Dave Ward.
Good evening ladies & gentlemen.
Please could we all show our appreciation to Dawn, Dan and their staff for their hospitality here at the Wilson Arms, thank you.
This is our 71st presentation evening.
I think you will all agree a big thank you is in order to Jason for his commitment to overseeing the weigh-ins, even when he may not have fished himself, and to Bernard also keeping an eye on proceedings. Thank you.
----------
This season’s weigh-in was only 65 lbs more than last season with 397 more fish, predominantly whitings!
We had twenty-two members, including one lady and 3 juniors fishing, 17 being the max to fish a match and 6 being the least, with 11 being the average.
Fourteen different members won a match, fifteen members won Heaviest Fish of the night.
Monthly Sweeps were well supported more than last season - 13 for Heaviest Bag of Fish and 15 for Heaviest Fish.
The first three months were dominated by Brian, and then Dave Perrett took over for the latter half of the season.
October 2025 - Storms, Amy, Benjamin
Brian’s month 55 fish 39 lb 07 oz but he did not have it all his way until the last match as Dave had led the way.
Match 7 and the first photo opportunity, Davey T - 5 lb 05½ oz
Highlights of October:
1- Neil Eglon snaps rod fighting with weed.
2- Paul Short tackle box strap snaps half way up Saltwick.
3- Dave Perrett miss places his foot at Landing Scaur cut-off, knocks knees and holes waders!
4- Mike Saunders snaps rod down Runswick Bay, goes home and returns with another rod, & Jason Ebison's bait box is washed away by a surge.
5- Our first and only Non match entry - Paul Short 1 codling, 1 billet, 1 lb 15½ oz
Two ‘double-figure’ bags Davey T & myself.
November 2025 - Storm Claudia
Brian’s month 60 fish 53 lb 08 oz
Filey Open, Sun 9th and Paul Short came 3rd with a 4 lb codling.
Match 11 and I was still second on the Leader Board, and then, it all went south!
Wed 19th, Doubles Final and it snowed which stopped my partner, Ryan from getting to the weigh-in. He had 8 lb 09 oz, and with my 5 lb 04 oz we would have beaten Brian & Mike. 13 lb 13 oz to 8 lb 15 oz, but that is fishing.
Open Sun 23rd and Andy Spillman wins the Open, now a heaviest single fish match - 6 lb 03 oz
Many thanks to our sponsors Wilf Nobles Plant Hire and construction, along with Mariner A, nee Steve Igleston.
Highlights of November:
1- Match 12 Brian shattered a tooth biting through line.
2- Match 13 east pier fishes, and yet no member was there!
3- Match 14 Brian off down the Goat track when he realises he has a beach rod and set-up. Dave Perrett has lamp trouble, and leaves Sloping Rock with his phone torch. On reaching his car, does a final check of his headtorch and it works!
4- Match 15 Brian drives off his drive before realising he has not packed a rod.
5- Match 15 snow & Ryan misses weigh-in.
6- Match 16 exiting Saltwick drive Rob & Neil find Neil’s rod laid on the tarmac, it had fallen out of Rob’s truck.
7- Match 18 was the last match where anyone was close to a 5 lb match average weigh-in.
Three ‘double-figure’ bags - Davey T, Brian & Colin.
December 2025 - Storm Bram

3- Match 22 Brian achieves 100 whitings weighed-in.
4- Match 24 New catch record of rocklings caught in a single match - ten by myself!
No ‘double-figure’ bags.

Members Trophy cabinet
January 2026 - Storm Goretti
Dave’s month 19 fish 36 lb 15 oz
