Sunday morning 10.00hrs 12 WSAA members started fishing against 10 members from Cloughton Rocks, at stake the Secretary’s Challenge Trophy, the team with the best aggregate would be the winners. Boundary’s, Cowbar Steel to Robinhoods Bay, Landing Scaur. The match finished at 16.00hrs, and the weigh-in closed at 16.45hrs, followed by a hot meal, and then the presentation, at the Wilson Arms, Sneaton.
Match entry £5, and each club put in £50 for the £210 prize pool. Split 50/50 between the top 3 HBoFish, and top 3 HFish. Conditions were far from favourable for either team. A very cold SEasterly wind which was freshening all match with rain showers. ENEasterly surface blash with a little underlying swell 0-1ft which started to build throughout the flood tide, with little to no colour, catch forecast was extremely low.
Of the 22 anglers only 8 had a weigh-in, overseen by Bernard Vasey & Jason Ebison, many thanks. In total 15 assorted fish - 3 codlings, 3 wrasse, 8 r’lings, & 1 dab for 20 lb 09 oz.
Cloughton Rocks won with an impressive aggregate of 1 lb 07 oz to Whitby’s 8 oz [aggregate = Teams total weight divided by number of anglers].
Cloughton Rocks extend their lead to 6 wins to WSAA’s 4.
WSAA Results: - 6 lb 01 oz (Av fish 12 oz)
