Whitby Sea Anglers Association are a rover shore angling club, membership can be traced back over 50 years*.
*In 2012 William Atkinson, Honorary President & Honorary Chairman celebrated 50 years as a member.
A typical season for Whitby Sea Anglers Association starts the 1st Wednesday after the ‘Scarborough Fishing Festival’ ends {normally the last Wednesday of September}, which in turn follows the Filey Fishing Festival.
Depending on when they both start and finish dictates when we start fishing.

Members subscriptions £25 [see Membership], & match entries £2.50 (min. 8 matches = £20)
£45 to be put in a sealed, named envelope & handed to Treasurer Dave Perrett after the weigh-in
(for those that did not attend the AGM)
Subscriptions, as above, are due at the AGM so members can vote - no subs, no vote (AGM 2nd Sept 2015 AOB No. 2).
Knockout entries will also be taken at the AGM, again in a named, sealed envelope and after the weigh-in of the first match for those that did not attend.

After each match the Secretary writes a brief summary of the club nights fishing, results.

Monthly Sweeps for 'Heaviest Fish’ and ‘Heaviest Bag'

Singles and Doubles
WSAA organise a Singles and Doubles knockout competitions, £6 (doubles) & £4 (singles) entry (AGM 02/09/2015).
Fished on Wednesday night, a fortnight apart, respectfully.
Each round of the Single or Doubles is therefore 3 weeks apart so as not to favour high or low tides for each round.
The singles commences 3rd Wednesday and the doubles 4th wednesday of each season and a preliminary round may be fished.

WSAA members compete, by invitation, in the annual inter club match, known as the Bell Trophy.
Organised and run by Scarborough Rock Anglers Society, Jan/Feb 2022 will be the 97th year.

Fishing is not just limited to Wednesday & Sunday nights, members can compete for the David "Sten" Stonehouse Memorial Sandsend Trophy for the Heaviest Fish caught out of a WSAA competition.
