Whitby Sea Anglers Association - 8th January 2008.
Agenda for Committee Meeting 8th January 2008 at 7.30pm at The Ship Inn, Whitby.
1) Meeting to be opened by the current Chair who will have the opportunity to give an update on the season so far and a brief summary of why the meeting has been called.
2) Treasurers Report – If there are any financial matters to be discussed other than those on the agenda then this can be done here. Otherwise this can be skipped.
3) Secretaries Report - any correspondence sent or received to be disclosed to the committee.
4) Minutes From Last Meeting – minutes to be read out. It needs to be proposed and seconded that this is a true record of the meeting.
5) Matters Arising From Minutes.
6) National Federation Of Sea Anglers – Yorkshire NFSA Chairman Mr. Gwyn Davies to talk to on NFSA. This will also allow the committee to ask questions about the NFSA club insurance scheme.
7) Non Paying Members – Concern has been expressed that some of the clubs members are not letting committee members know that they wish to fish a match, they are not paying for matches in advance and are not returning to the weigh in if they have failed to catch. This means Dave Perrett struggles to payout to the match winner and keep track on individuals subscriptions. Current club ruling is
“The annual subscription and nightly fees must be paid in full before a member can participate in the matches. Anyone unable to pay before the match should contact a committee member prior to the match to say they wish to fish. Again non compliance with this rule could result in disqualification.” The committee need to decide what can be done to solve this problem. The rule allows the committee to disqualify members from matches. Obviously the club does not want to have conflict with any members which could result in them leaving the club, but current situation needs resolving."
8) Recreational Sea Angling Strategy. – The RSA strategy is currently out for public consultation and DEFRA wish to know out thoughts. The RSA Strategy includes issues which could impact on the clubs future. Such things as the introduction of a Sea Angling Licence, a bag limit for sea anglers and bait digging restrictions are included in the Strategy. Glenn suggests that to do nothing would play into the hands of DEFRA who are keen to introduce these controls on sea anglers. The club have been invited to reply and have until March to do so. Glenn will distribute copies of the strategy to the committee. Do the club wish to reply? If so how will this be done?
9) Flamborough No Take Zone.
10) Any Other Business / Open Forum – Committee members any raise whatever issues they wish (Time Allowing).
