1) The secretary pointed out that at the AGM on 31st August 2011, M Vasey was elected to the committee but had not actually joined the club for the 2011-2012 season. It was pointed out by members that M Vasey could not be on the committee if he had not joined the club so was unanimously unelected.
The secretary pointed out that we needed a replacement and two members immediately showed a clear interest.
D Thompson proposed C Stainthorpe and seconded by J Gilpin.
B Vasey proposed N Inglis and seconded by W Atkinson.
Both were unanimously elected to the committee.
2) Rule change – fishing times prior to club matches. Members, the secretary included, recounted phone calls received about members fishing before time on club nights. But with no rules being broken and no written allegations forthcoming to say otherwise there was nothing the club could do.
After a heated debate it was proposed by D Perrett, with immediate effect, that the ½ hrs rule be changed to ‘no fishing 2 hrs before a club match’ and seconded by W Atkinson.
Passed by members.
3) Rule change – clean fish bag required for fishing a club match.
After a short discussion and with reference to both Scarborough and Filey clubs rule books, the following proposal for a new club rule was put forward.

Therefore 1st - 10th receive, £60, £50, £40, £35, £30, £25, £20, £15, £10, £10 with a total cost of £295. An increase in costs of £100.
Passed by members.
W Atkinson proposed and seconded by B Vasey that Juniors would also increase to £15, £10, £5, for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Passed by members.
6) Meals subsidy.
It was suggested that in order to get more members to attend the annual presentation night that a meal subsidy should be considered. Using 25p of the 50p club contribution included in the £2 match entry fee. Members would effectively be using the club as a savings scheme. If you fished 40 matches then £10 would go towards the cost of your meal.
Proposed by D Perrett and seconded by P Horbury.
Passed by members.
7) Paula Midgely and Malcolm Pitman of Whitby Seafishing Supplies would like to sponsor our Annual Open Competition.
The secretary told members how he had been approach by Paula and Malcolm with a view to sponsoring our annual open match. The secretary pointed out that we have 3 builders merchants sponsoring the Open without any problems. We also had 3 tackle shops sponsoring the Open and, personally saw no reason why another would be a problem.
D Perrett pointed out that over the years what had been given by Whitby Angling Supplies had been dropping off in value, now £80.
Other members told how the tackle shop would not ‘price match’ and keep in stock what Club Members used.
Many reporting that they used Keith’s Sports and they were more amenable, had more stock and gave discount.
None of the members present said that they received any discount from Whitby Angling Supplies.
Members reporting that Bill Costin was their shop of choice and others the internet.
The question was asked if there was ‘anything on the table’ from Paula and Malcolm.
The secretary informed members that there was not, as Paula and Malcolm were going to put something together in the New Year depending on the outcome of this meeting. Members found this unacceptable.
The scenario of ‘what happens if the new shop closes’ before our next Open and we end up with no sponsor as many saw that Whitby Angling Supplies may withdraw support if a rival Whitby tackle shop also supports our Open.
The secretary was asked to write a letter of thanks for the kind and generous offer and give the new shop time to establish itself in the ‘market place’.
It was proposed by J Gilpin and seconded by B Vasey that we stay the same as we are.
Passed by Members.
8) WSAA Annual Insurance.
The secretary informed members that during his efforts to establish a good line of communications between other club secretaries the following had arisen.
Carolyn Cammish secretary for Filey had asked ‘whose club insurance WSAA used?'
The secretary informed her that WSAA used the National Federation, as organised by our club treasurer D Perrett.
She informed the secretary that after legal advice they changed to the Angling Trust as it was pointed out that committee members were liable for personal claims.
She also informed the secretary that they were now Filey Club Ltd, ‘company by guarantee not for profit’.
Members ask the secretary to write and asked for more detail as to cost of insurance, cost of legal bill, cost of becoming a Ltd company and check the Angling Trust web site for details.

11) Not entered reference Matches Rule.
D Perrett informed members that so far this year this rule has been flouted no less than four times.
One of these was present and openly admitted he had learnt his lesson and now ensured he was paid up well in advance.
It was unanimously agreed that the rule is strictly enforced.
12) Sea Angler Clubman Teams.
The secretary informed members that WSAA entered this Clubman series as a trial and unfortunately entered names of individuals whom everyone assumed would be members this year, but did not join, as there was a deadline for entry.
The secretary reported that he had phoned Alan Yates at Sea Angler magazine, and as yet had no answer to his question. The question being could WSAA enter their competitors after club registration in September.
Members were happy with the Clubman scheme as long as the secretary was happy to do the extra work.
13) Presentation night.
D Perrett asked if everyone was happy with the Stables as a continued venue for WSAA annual presentation night meal out. If not did anyone have an alternative venue in mind?
