Every year, on the last fishing Sunday* of December Whitby Sea Anglers hold their Annual Christmas Match for fully paid up members only. Weigh-in, meal, and presentation at the Stakesby Arms, Whitby (2021 changed last minute to the Met, West Cliff).
For all club members and no one goes home without a prize!!
*Fished on the last Sunday before Christmas (however when Christmas eve falls on a Sunday 24th there is no match, then the Christmas match is fished on the 17th). In those circumstances Wednesday 20th would be the last match before the Christmas break, returning Wednesday 3rd January.
Hot food and prize giving and raffle (venue announced during December).
Rule 17 - Members must have fished or paid for 6 matches before they are eligible to fish the clubs Christmas Match. Honorary members are exempt from this ruling.

The winner of the Christmas Cup is the Member with the Heaviest Bag of Fish.
There is also a prize for the angler who catches the Heaviest Fish.
2016 - The Michael Deadman Memorial Trophy For The Christmas Match Heaviest Fish - Donated by Richard Deadman,
in memory of his father who sadly past in 2016.
In previous years WSAA Rules did dictate that an individual can only win 'one prize' rules have now changed, and the person with the Heaviest Bag, can also win the Heaviest Fish (should they have it).

Mike Vickers & Mark Sivils - £100 each, giving a prize pool of £200 to be split
1st £50, 2nd £40, 3rd £35, 4th £30, 5th £25, 6th £20, thereafter members have the pick of the prize table.
Then, the names of those who did not weigh-in are put in a hat. The 'draw' then dictates who is next for a pick of the prize table.

The Royal Hotel Aggregate Winner Cup was donated to Whitby Sea Anglers in the 1970's.
Original donated to a Whitby Coarse fishing club by, the then owner of the Royal Hotel.
The coarse fishing club folded and the cup was then donated to Dave Perrett, WSAA Treasurer, by Dave Smith.
