Members WSAA Record Fish & Club Records (work in progress)
WSAA Members Records.
This is most definitely work in progress with over 50 years of angling archives and history (I started this on 1st December 2012), as more of the archives are uploaded, so the records will be amended. It is far from complete but at the same time should add some more competitiveness to club angling.
Dave Perrett thought it would be a good idea to try and compile a few club records (an understatement there).
I have started from known records 1973/74, 1974/75, 1975/76, and the main ledger 1979 to current season was completed end of December 2012, which was recently uploaded.
At this time it is not a fully comprehensive record. On 6th December 2012, Bernard Vasey loaned me 2 reams of records and photographs, from the time when he was club secretary. So it will take time to do the research and upload the clubs records. Recently 2003 - 2004 season has been completely retyped, now working on 2002 - 2003 season. Which threw up an interesting record dab which Neil Inglis caught 29th Sept. 2002, 1 lb 14 oz - 73.2% of British Record. So although the main ledger records the weight and fish numbers it does not always record the fish types, which is where the copies of the submitted reports to the Whitby Gazette come in very useful.
Now that is has been started, any member can make a claim on a specimen fish weight or any record.
Caught a bigger fish? Hold a record, claim it!
Rules:- You must be / have been a WSAA member (Senior / Junior) and caught your WSAA Specimen fish in a club match (Wednesday / Sunday), WSAA Open or Bell Trophy. The species and weight needs to have been recorded on the match weigh slip, in the ledger / archives or reported in a weekly report to Whitby Gazette.
It is the members responsibility to ask the weigh master to record any new claim on the nights weigh in slip, thereafter the secretary will record it accordingly in to the archives.
As weights are added I will work out the 'percentage' of the British Record. Link below to downloadable pdf of British Records. (2010 Angling Trust http://www.anglingtrust.net/page.asp?section=41).
Tight lines and good luck.

*At the time, {1 lb 06 oz was 104.8% of the then BR - 1990, N Conn 1 lb 05 oz 12 drm} it was not known this was a new record and as the fish was still alive, it was released after the weigh in, in to Whitby harbour. Shortly after the weigh in, Dave Perrett checked the BR records, but as the fish had been released, no claim could be made. However the record has since been broken again 2005.
