After the meal WSAA Secretary Peter Horbury summarised the season and members achievements.
There were 2 domino cards to draw
Good evening all and a warm welcome to our guests.
Nice to see you all and thank you for attending.
This is our 68th Annual Presentation.
Total weight for the season - 1,732 lb 12 oz, from 24 members, with anywhere from 7 to 12 members fishing the later stages of the season.
This total weigh-in is down on last year by 600 lb from 29 members.
The availability of green crab was down due to the dredging of the River Tees could explain why membership was down to a level not seen since the years 2007-2012.
Total fish numbers were down by nye on by 750 fish, the scarcity of whitings, last season 580 whitings were weighed-in, this season just 2 by Brian Harland.
Over the season there were 12 different members who won HBoFish and 14 different members who won HFish.
11 members won both HBoFish & HFish together on the same night,
Dave Hambley 10 times,
Davey Turnbull 7 times,
Ryan Collinson & Brian Harland 4 times,
Dave Perrett, Denis Thompson twice,
Bernard Vasey, Dave Ward, Steve Ingleston, Paul Short and myself [Peter Horbury] once each.
Monthly Sweeps - the old adage ‘You have to be in in, to win it’. Both were well supported, 14 for HBoFish, and 15 for HFish, all 12 prizes were shared amongst 6 members only.

Tales of woe on that night:-
Denis Thompson snaps end eye, Dave Perrett fallen over bag, bait and rig wallet nowhere to be seen and Neil Eglon non-match-entry.
The non-match entry rule to some, normally the offenders is ‘a silly rule’.
You may not be the first, nor will you be the last.
However, as pointed out, you cannot win the Lotto if you forget to buy a ticket.
This gave rise to the birth of a new web page - Non Match Entry, also tabled are those who missed out on the Monthly Sweeps by not believing in themselves.
Turnbullator - I’m back Wed 7th Artic winds named the troll from Trondheim weighed-in 26 lb 06 oz inc HFish 7 lb 10½ oz [both trophy winners], and Jonny Watson 10 lb 02 oz the only DFigure bags.

Christmas match and hospitality at The Grosvenor, many thanks to Ryan’s parents.

Match 34 Wed 1st Paul Short has packed 3 head torches having been lent one the previous match by myself.
Match 35 Sun 5th and Bernard Vasey after a long absence is back at the scales although not fit enough to fish.
The Snow Moon and Dave Hambley is stalling at the scales until, from his own ‘Mary Poppins’ bag pulls a 5 lb 11 oz codling as he jostles for No.1 from Davey Turnbull now only 1 lb 06 oz ahead.
Match 37 Secretary’s Challenge Trophy and Whitby wins thanks to Ryan, Brian, Dave Ward and Paul Short. Brian now tops the leader board.
Who can forget Match 38 Wed 15th when yours truly was the only member to weigh-in, a rockling of 4 oz - to be in contention for the wooden spoon - the lightest fish to win heaviest fish of the night, my only ‘double win’.
Match 39 Sun 19th and Ryan is now closing the gap for 3rd place from Dave Hambley with a ‘DFigure bag 13 lb 06 oz.
Match 41 Sun 26th Bell Trophy day and Davey Turnbull saves WSAA from last place as Cloughton retain the Sana bell.
Although in front of some ‘top rods’ Davey did drop a big fish!!
A very poor turn out for us, just 7 fished.

Match 48 Wed 22nd Brian & Ryan share the honours, Brian extends his lead on Davey as Ryan closes on Davey.
Match 49 Sun 26th Ryan blanks, Dave Hambley regains 3rd with a 7 lb 13 oz bag. Brian wins the Sunday League.
Last match of the Season Wed 29th and for the 2nd time this season ‘one ounce short Ryan’ is the talk as his misses out on joint 3rd place by one ounce despite taking Man of the Match and Hfish of the night.
Ryan may rue Sun 30th Oct when he fell foul of non-match entry and lost a 2 lb 01 oz, weigh-in or that shopping trip to Edinburgh? But on the positive side, match fishing has been a learning curve and he has done remarkably well.
Right moving on to the Trophy awards.
