Members Christmas match, fishing 14.00 - 19.00hrs, weigh-in 19.00 - 19.45 hrs at the Wilson Arms, Sneaton, followed by a Sunday lunch and presentation. £50 1st Place prize, many thanks to Neil Eglon, and £50 for HFish, many thanks to Rich Deadman, in memory of Michael Deadman.
Storm Elgin, now over the North Sea heading towards Europe had brought very strong winds and heavy rainfall over night. Sea state NEasterly 2-3ft thick with colour. SWesterly winds, gusting 30mph with intermittent rainfall throughout the 5hr all ebb match.
With the 100% cloud cover it got dark very quickly which in theory should of brought the fish into feed but alas it did not. Plenty of bites but no solid takers, just the one pull, and no return.
Of the 12 fishing just 7 managed a weigh-in 13 codlings, 9 rocklings, 1 billet. With literally seconds to spare Man of the Match Colin Stainthorpe, Whitby, made it to the scales. 3 codlings 7 lb 08½ oz included HFish 4 lb 01 oz.
Best ‘Other’ codlings:
Davey Turnbull, Darlington - 2 lb 04 oz
Jason Ebison, Whitby - 2 lb 03½ oz
Neil Eglon, Whitby - 2 lb 02 oz
