2024 Penn Sea League Match Organisers Guidance
|
If you wish to register your match in the Penn Sea League you need to;
1. Email the match details to Ian Bowell (PSL Administrator), [email protected] this should be 2 months or more in advance of the match to maximise advertising, late entries may be allowed with the consent of the administrator.
2. Include in your email; Match name, date, location, fishing times, booking in location/time, type of match; pegged/rover/biggest fish etc, entry cost and contact details of organiser (to include mobile number and or email address).

The PSL administrator will do everything possible to support match organisers, and while social media if fantastic for advertising matches, results and promoting match angling, results will not be searched for or taken from social media. It is the match organisers responsibility to send in the results in the correct format.
4. Once email confirmation from the PSL administrator has been received, the match can then be advertised as a PSL match.
5. All events must be open events; team competitions are allowed if open to individuals, exceptions Penn and National Sea League Final. Total points awarded for the Penn final will be based on 45 participating anglers, 3 sections of 15, points awarded 10-1 in each of the sections. However, this may vary subject to venue and number of participating anglers at the discretion of the PSL administrator.
6. Within 7 days of the match, the organiser must email the PSL administrator, [email protected] the results, to include; date/name of match, number of participating anglers, winning anglers name (Christian and Surname required). Catch information is always welcome, i.e., number of fish, weight/points etc, as our pictures and any match reports you may have;

Multi-day events (maximum five days) will be accepted, subject to at least one day being a weekend or bank holiday, with points awarded for the overall result only.

Penn Sea League
Penn Sea League was established in 1999 by Sea Angler magazine and was taken over by Angling Trust on 1st January 2024.
Household names including Ian Golds, Joe Arch, Alan Price, Saul Page, and George Smith all have their names etched on the famous trophy after winning the league’s grand final.
This year’s point scoring draws to a close at the end of December and the Angling Trust will take charge of running the final in April 2024 alongside current Penn Sea League co-ordinator and England team manager Ian Bowell. Sea Angler Magazine will publish the final league table for 2023 in their February 4 issue and will continue to provide media support during 2024.
How Does It Work?
Points are awarded based on the number of anglers fishing an open match registered for the Penn Sea League and go to the top three anglers, zone winners and heaviest fish in registered open events held throughout the UK.
League scoring runs from January to December each year and the top 40 best point scorers from the season are invited to go head-to-head in a one-off grand final match hosted the following season.
Anglers who wish to take part in the competition from January 1, 2024, onwards will need to register with the Angling Trust in order to score points from the matches they fish.
The competition will be open to ALL ANGLERS and membership of the Angling Trust will not be required to register.
