None Match Entry

Just like the National Lottery, you have to be in it, to win it.
'Lesson Learnt' is a phrase often used by Brian Harland, and it has stuck with me.

WSAA Rules are quite clear:
1. Match entry fee is £2.50, STRICTLY PAID IN ADVANCE etc
10. See Rule 1, match fee. Anyone unable to pay before a match should either contact a committee member or ring / text Dave Perrett on (Numbers printed on issued copies to members) prior to the match to say they wish to fish. Again non-compliance with this rule WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION and deduction of any fish weight accumulated on the night in question. Having said you will fish you must attend the weigh-in for two reasons. 1) To pay your dues and 2) So we do not send out a search party for you. See Rules 24, 25, & 26 [AGM AOB 28th Aug 2019]

As you can see, none match entry is quite common, and nothing new.
Normally occurs after 8/10 matches, depending on how many matches were paid for in advance at the AGM, or whether the member has fished all the matches since the AGM.
The cost to one's total weight, and pocket can be costly.

Members have only themselves to blame, and should keep a note of when entries run out.
The solution is to socialise in the Fleece after the weigh-in [soup on a wednesday] where Treasurer Dave Perrett has the ledger open on the table as he, and Secretary Peter Horbury do the book work. [This is when none match entry is discovered, doing the book work.]
Comparing text & WhatsApp messages received for fishing & gone home safe.
Members can pay up in block, and not mess about with £2.50 here and there. It also enables Dave Perrett to enjoy his pint!
Match winnings will not be used for match entries unless Dave Perrett is given permission / instructed to do so.
Text a member of the Committee if you intend to fish, as Rule 10 above.

On occasion the winning bag has had the HFish of the night - so neither count.

Monthly Sweeps - Not entered
|
The Monthly Sweeps are none WSAA Business, started by Denis Thompson & Rob Allison.
However back then they were forever chasing members at the end of the month for the following month.
Danny Middlemas* decided that anyone interested must pay for all 6 months at once.
Currently run by Secretary Peter Horbury - 2022 - 2023 Season
Monthly Sweeps are only £2 HFish & £2 HBoFish [£4/month (6 months) - paid in full = £24*]
The option is to enter both or just one, some just enrol for the HFish sweep like Denis Thompson.
But as you can see from the two tables below, not to enrol could be costly.
