Sunday 25th November 2007, saw the Whitby Sea Anglers Association hold their annual one day open fishing competition.
Some 90 anglers from across the region fished in tough conditions with only 24 competitors managing to weigh in.

A close second was Cloughton angler Chris France who took three fish for 16 lb 07 oz earning him a cheque for £200.
Third place went to Scarborough angler Peter Bayes who landed two nice fish for 14 pounds 2 ounces, Pete recieved a cheque for £100 for his efforts.
The highest placed Whitby angler was James Gilpin who had four cod for 12 lb 07 oz putting him in 5th place overall.
