1) Minutes from meeting on 13th September 2006.
Were read out by Bernard Vasey.
Paul Kilpatrick proposed them as a true record, seconded by William Atkinson.
2) Matters Arising.
Phil Mead asked if the singles final had been fished over 1 or 2 legs in the previous season. Glenn Kilpatrick it had been a 1 leg final as decoded at the 2006 AGM. Bernard Vasey confirmed both knockout finals were fished over 1 leg.
3) Chairman’s Report.
There was no report from the Chairman.
4) Secretaries Report.
There was no report from the Secretary.
5) Treasurer’s Report.
Dave Johnson distributed a copy of the previous years accounts. Dave said no knockout prize money had been given out as the record of entrants had been lost.
Paul Kilpatrick queried the Ship Inn Open figures as there had been a profit.
Dave Johnson explained that more should have been paid out but entry levels had been an unknown at the time of the match therefore leading to uncertainty about how much money was in the prize fund.
William Atkinson proposed the records as a true record of the clubs finances for the previous year and this was seconded by Paul Kilpatrick.
6) Election of officials. – The Committee.
Was voted in en bloc with all the previous years committee remaining in place with the exception of Neil Inglis who is no longer a club member. It was suggested Neil could rejoin the committee if he decides to join the club in coming years. Neil’s efforts in fund raising for open matches and his input into club as a whole, was recognized by all present.
Bernard Vasey stood down as Chairman due to work commitments although he will remain a club member fishing as and when possible.
The clubs new Chairman is Phil Mead (proposed by Denis Thompson, seconded Dave Perrett).
Glenn Kilpatrick remains as club Secretary (proposed Bernard Vasey, seconded by William Atkinson.
Phil Mead will email Glenn the clubs results should Glenn not be able to fish.
Dave Johnson stood down as club Treasurer after many years in the job. Dave was thanked for his efforts over the years and was made an honorary life member of the club. The clubs new Treasurer is Dave Perrett (proposed Glenn Kilpatrick, seconded Bernard Vasey).
7) Open Match.
A date was set for 25th November fishing 10-4. The ticket price was raised to £8 (£2 super pool) with the extra income going towards an increased first place prize of £500 (proposed Paul Kilpatrick, seconded Bernard Vasey). Second place money will remain at £200. 3rd place prize money was changed to £100 (proposed William Atkinson, seconded Colin Stainthorpe). 4th place prize money was increased to £50 from £25 (proposed William Atkinson, seconded Colin Stainthorpe).
Rob Allison, Denis Thompson, and Jason Ebison to give £20 each to the junior prize fund.
Dave Perrett proposed attempting to get a reel, perhaps a Slosh from one of the match sponsors to give out for 15th place.
Denis Thompson felt this to be a bad idea suggesting prizes should be concentrated to those winning the event.
Glenn Kilpatrick felt Dave’s proposal to be a good idea as it would encourage participation in the event.
8) Club Knockout Matches.
Singles to start 17th October with a £2 entry fee.
Doubles to start 23rd October with a £3 entry fee.
Glenn Kilpatrick agreed to arrange matches and requested that those who may not be able to fish on knockout nights for any reason should not enter the match.
Paul Kilpatrick proposed an increase for the knockouts but time constraints meant this could not be discussed further.
9) Ship Inn Open.
Arranged for 13th January 2008. Paul Kilpatrick proposed that last years profit should be added to this years prize fund. It was agreed to arrange a committee meeting nearer the time to finalise the details.
10) Monthly Heaviest Bag and Heaviest Fish of the Month competitions.
These will continue and will be organised by Dave Perrett.
Entry fee is £1 with all money going to the monthly winners.
11) Christmas Match.
23rd December, fishing 2-7.
Entry fee £6.
Dave Perrett to organise prizes.
Since the meeting Glenn has learnt the Fleece is not available on this date. Mike the Fleece landlord suggests holding the match a week earlier, Glenn will discuss this with club members at the start of the season.
12) Start of New Season.
As always the clubs first match will be the Wednesday after the final Scarborough festival match. This year start date is 26th September. Anyone fishing MUST meet at the Bandstand at 6.30pm for the first match only.
Fishing times will remain as previous years.
13) Club Membership Subscriptions.
Dave Perrett proposed an increase from £5 to £10, seconded by Paul Kilpatrick, and carried unanimously.
Juniors will be £5 per season.
14) Christmas mid season break.
Last match 23rd December, first match in 2008 will be Wednesday 2nd January.
15) Any Other Business.
A) A whiting ban was proposed, Denis Thompson said this would be a bad idea as some anglers liked fishing for them and it encouraged people to fish on difficult nights.
Paul Kilpatrick then proposed raising the whiting size limit to 33cm to encourage people to fish for cod. This was seconded by Rob Allison.
This proposal was carried with a vote of 6 in favour and 4 against with a new Chairman Phil Mead unable to vote. The new whiting size limit for the coming season is 33cm with junior size limit remaining at 30cm.
B) A spare cup has been found and will be given as Heaviest Bag Trophy for the Ship Inn Open.
C) Phil Mead suggested having at least 2 committee meetings to arrange events including this seasons trophy presentation night.
D) As Bernard Vasey has stood down James Gilpin agreed to do the weigh ins when he is available. On other nights it will be the duty of the first angler/committee member back to collect the scales from the Ship Inn cellar and organize the weighing of fish.
