Got the chance to hop on the footplate, where my great grand father once worked. The Flying Scotsman was sat on Grosmont Platform 3 from 18.20 hrs, as the sunset, with visitors getting a chance to get on the footplate. FarewellAfter the Flying Scotsman had reversed out of Grosmont station and onto the mainline, I noticed the sky was clear. I left camera and tripod in position & took 120 30sec exposures to stack as a start trail. Then try & merge/stack it with the flash shot of the departure. Unfortunately Photoshop & I, at this time, don't understand each other - work in progress. 30/03/2016 a re edited version
Lineside wildlifeWaiting, seemed to do a lot on Sunday following a breakdown on the 1st run at Moorgates, this young deer was totally at ease on the other side of the track, then it crossed. Further down the line, another deer crossed. An excellent day Lineside NYMR, making the most of my permit before the Flying Scotsman leaves on Monday. Please don't be tempted to go 'lineside' without the necessary paper work, Permit, Photo ID etc as British Transport Police have made it known they 'are' going to make an example of someone. A drone has already hit the rear carriage here, which is being investigated. First run of the day - Beck Hole Head Ashby & Co Teesdale Iron Works Stockton On Tees Second run of the day With up to 3 hrs between the FS running up to Pickering, what to do to pass the time? These sheep had a run for their lives, run Forest run! Time to play with an infrared filter Waiting in the sunshine Paul, Bob, John & Graham Last run of the day, love the cheeky grin from the driver
A cloudy misty start, the sun didn't really get out, and cold over the moor tops. Levisham moorParked at Hole of Horcum, and walked to the Horseshoe Inn for lunch :-)
You can walk for what seems an eternity and meet nobody, and all of a sudden people appear from all directions. Off to Levisham & Newton Dale Halt (a 1½hr walk from Levisham to Newton Dale Halt) to catch the Flying Scotsman doing a 'gauge' check from Grosmont to Pickering ahead of its week stay on North York Moors Railway. Very surprised at how few spectators & togs were present. LevishamFish eye panoramic - Flying Scotsman Newton Dale HaltA request stop only, and today it wan't going to stop! And we had it all to ourselves :-) After a 1½hr walk from Levisham to Newton Dale Halt it was worth it. I had one shot in mind, and I'm pleased with the outcome
