Beautiful still, cloudless evening on the eve of the 'frosty' or 'beaver' moon

Been fishing with WSAA, torrential rain, strong winds until 9pm and on getting home, read of an aurora. But missed main action between 9-11 pm, but there is still a green glow and a few shafts to be seen before cloud spoilt it. Done this time lapse at 15fps Star Trail 24th October 2015
'Supermoon' coincides with lunar eclipse Location - south of Whitby, just off the A169 above North York Moors. The lights from RAF Fylingdales can be seen on LH edge of frame & Goathland on RH edge. The light pollution is from Pickering, mist rolling over moors before heavy cloud cover spoils the night. Images taken night of 6th November / morning 7th November 2015 The only thing seen by the naked eye was the distinctive arch, similar to the Milky Way, but that was directly overhead. Time lapse below, just under 2,000 images (uploaded Mon 9th Nov 2015) Kit - Canon 5D MkIII, Samyang 14mm, f2.8 manual lens. ISO 5000, 8s, f2.8, K 3,750 - continuous shooting To keep the dew & moisture off of the lens I use an Astrozap Dew Heater Tape, HitecAstro single channel, dual port Dew Controller and a 70amp/hr car battery as a power source for the lens heater & controller. Except for car the battery, all from First Light OIptics Back in August I was lucky to capture a few Aurora Borealis - Archives ↓ This image made the Daily newspapers ↓ HD time lapse |
