Email: - [email protected] Dear Sir/Madam I am currently carrying out a study on behalf of NEIFCA and Natural England looking at bait collection & use in the NEIFCA region, which includes all coastal and estuarine areas between Haile Sand Fort, Cleethorpes and the south bank of the Tyne. This is with a view to gathering baseline data in order to implement DEFRA's new guidelines on the management of European Marine Sites, part of which includes the potential management of bait fisheries to ensure they remain sustainable- both economically and environmentally. We are keen to receive the input of the angling community with regards to whether they collect or purchase bait, their methods of collection, their preferred bait types, and their opinions on sites they frequent. This may include any issues they are aware of which they feel may require addressing, their thoughts on any potential legislation and what they feel may be required or most effective, or their thoughts on the sustainability of activities at sites they visit. This study is an opportunity for anglers in our region to put their opinions forward before any management decisions are made, and we hope to receive as much input from the angling community as possible. To this end I have included links below to our online surveys, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could distribute these amongst your members. Both surveys are relatively short and should only take a few minutes to complete. Survey for people who collect their bait: https://hull.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/neifca-bait-collection-survey-2018 Survey for people who purchase their bait: https://hull.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/neifca-bait-collection-survey-2018-anglers If there are members who both collect & purchase bait and would like to fill out both surveys that would be most welcome. If you would like any further information please feel free to e-mail me. Thanking you in advance for your assistance.
