Reading this article, (the first I've heard of it) since 1st January 2016 'we' anglers cannot land any bass!!!
​4th paragraph:-
"Under the radar, the EU has sneaked in a new law making it illegal to take home a single bass. ....but also applies to individual anglers who go no further into the sea than halfway up their waders."

Reading further :- 13th paragraph
"The rules will apply until June, when they will be relaxed.  After that, sea anglers will be allowed to keep a grand total of ONE bass each."

On a personal view.
The sooner 'we' the UK show some longbow archers 'two fingers' to Europe, the better.  I'm all for leaving the EU.

Afternoon dog walk at high water Sandsend beach 14.12 hrs 5.3 metres

13.00hrs stopped off en route to my fishing mark - Sandsend beach & clear skies

Aurora Borealis (Northern lights) spotted whilst we were fishing the Christmas match between 5 & 7 pm.  Sadly no suitable camera & tripod in my fishing bag :-( 
After the meal & presentation checked the Aurora FBk page and there was to be another show, so gathered all my kit together & headed out.
Up to St Mary's church for a test shot, it was there, all be it faintly.
Whilst walking from the church yard and down the 199 steps some mindless and totally irresponsible cretin was playing with a green laser, and insisted on shining it in my eyes whilst walking down the steps.  The green light was coming from a property/yard near Cliff St. on the west side of town just before midnight.
I sincerely hope the police catch the person/persons responsible.

Cloughton Open
​10 am - 4 pm

Been 26yrs since I won the Cloughton Open with a  7 lb 00 oz codling back in 1989  but nice to be on the board.  Pete Halder, Secretary of Cloughton Rock Anglers, was telling me they have no winners trophy as it was not returned by a past winner.  It has the only records of past winners engraved.  If anyone knows who has it, I am sure Pete will only be too pleased to have it safely returned.

OK the picture quality is poor (camera phone zoomed in) but there is a small inflatable, with outboard in the surf.  We watched in amazement as it rounded Sandsend ness end as we fished the railing for last ½hr.
150 yds to go, he ran out of fuel, was frantically pulling on the starter cord.  In the end he had ro row, luckily for him it was still flooding.  Could of been a different ending if the tide had turned.
