MP’s are due to vote on this Tues 1st Dec. and it is a forgone conclusion it will be passed.
North Yorkshire is currently in Tier 2, Redcar & Cleveland is in Tier 3, and therein lies the problem for WSAA.
As a Club it would be irresponsible if we ran events which encouraged 44% of club membership to travel unnecessarily into Tier 2 from Tier 3. [please note fishing is not one of the listed exceptions for travel into and out of Tier 3.]

The Angling Trust writes ‘we will be urging anglers to exercise common sense, and act within the spirit of the government’s guidance.’
The Angling Trust goes on to say ‘To comply with the travel guidance in the Winter Plan, match organisers will need to revise any planned competitions which could result in participants seeking to enter or leave T3 areas.’
Consequently the WSAA Committee will not be resuming organised match events for its members for the time being/foreseeable future.
As one committee member said - ‘We fish competitively as a club, or not at all.’
This will be reviewed should there be a change in either area-status.
