Went to Howden to collect a 2nd hand camera bag. Then off to Spurn Point for a walk, alas a git big sign NO DOGS
Anyway we went for a walk............... Curlew, North Yorkshire moors, photographed through car window on way home from the afternoon walk with Chris & Aussie.
PC graphics card decided to spit its dummy out this morning. Dismantled & taken to The Computer Centre, Whitby. Couple of hours, and fingers crossed all sorted. Something we haven't seen for a while, blue sky, sunshine, and the moon was up early. What ewe looking at? All the sheep were totally unconcerned as we past and stayed down, which is unusual. Solitaire stone gate post from a bygone era.
Danby beacon for a late afternoon walk with Chris & Aussie. Grouse a plenty, invariably disturbing the courting couples. ↓ - Very fast wing beats in flight, even at 1/600th sec their wings are a blur. - ↓
Having a dog invariably involves a walk near water. Aussie should of been an otter. This afternoons walk down Falling Foss had just what Aussie wanted, water & adventure (with some coaching & encouragement) across this fallen tree, across the beck/stream. Long exposures are one of my favourites, and the afternoon lighting was kind.
Sun rise was spoilt with heavy cloud, but just after 7am here the silhouette of Bamburgh castle against the rising sun. Drove further north after breakfast, passing Budel bay until we had a view of Lindisfarne castle. Unfortunately it is enveloped in a curtain of scaffolding.
So an about turn & drove home after an enjoyable weekend. Can fully recommend the Sunningdale Hotel, Bamburgh, as it is dog friendly, a must for us. All the previous night it had chucked it down, and wasn't must better the next morning. Weather forecast was for brighter weather inland. Having read the papers after breakfast we made a decision to drive to Ingram, and look for Linhope spout. A ½ to ¾ minute hike along the road, then up onto some very wet & boggy moorland we were not disappointed.
Dunstanburgh Castle, between Craster & Embleton, near Alnwick, Northumberland. Not the best of weather conditions. Just driving into Low Newton and watched this sparrow hawk being chased across 2 fields, by 2 crows. So it sheltered in this leylandii tree until it was safe to leave.
Just arrived in Bamburgh for the weekend. Sunningdale Hotel, Bamburgh, dog friendly, a must for us. Phone photographs of these decorated WWII anti tank blocks of concrete before I got the DSLR out. ↓ - DSLR, tide was coming in, so no time to waste, 1st photograph - ↓
